2019 Walk Off Parkinson's

Shake and Bake

Please Help Us Walk Off Parkinson

As usual, time has flown by and we are just under two weeks away from Team SHAKE AND BAKE'S 6th walk to raise money for he Parksinson's Foundation of the National Capital Area.

The walk is Sunday September 30, 2018 at Nationals Stadium.  The gates open a 8:30 am, the welcome ceremony begins at 9:30 and the walk starts at 10 am.  We will meet at our usual spot by 9:30 for a group picture.  Please join us! There are lots of info booths with information about PD and lots of free giveaways ..who couldnt use another water bottle?  We will park on the top of the garage and meet back after the walk for some snacks! Parking is free and if you remember from last year don't follow me if I drive past!

Each year I meet more and more people my age with Parkinson's and each year I have more and more people cant imagine someone so young has Parkinson's. They ask if Ive been drinking, are shaking from being cold, ask if I understand what is being said and actually make people nervous when I walk behind them and my foot drags. Instead of making people feel uncomforable or feel sad, I want people to understand.   Next month i will have been diagnosed eight years. Ive met some amazing people this year, with and without PD and want to focus on raising money to fight this for them...for early diagnosis, new treatments, new ways of living with and adapting to life with PD as easily and smoothly as possible.

To do this, we need to get the word out to as many people as possible....to schools, churches, work places, restaurants, daycares, gym facilities, stores, family, neighbors.. I need your help to post the flyers on the website or the one I will be sending out any place you can!!!  Im available to speak to anyone for verification or questions they may have about Team Shake and Bake!  The 3 people who have the most people join Team Shake and Bake will recieve a special gift ...Not only is our goal to top our monetary goal but to bring awareness to as many people as possible.

Last year we had new T shirt marking our 5th year as a Team.  This year we are going to try something new....whether you are able to join us on September 30th.  We are going to update  your shirt with adding the year and logo. You can leave your shirts in a water proof bag in my mailbox or on the front stoop. We will update and get it back to you asap. Please mark your initials on the tag so I can return them to you.

If you are in need of a new t shirt please let me know so I can get it to you.  New members will get a shirt and bracelet, even if they dont walk. I also have plenty of oven mitts left too!!

Please let me know how I can help you help me and other PD survivors live a great life!!

If you plan on coming to the walk please RSVP as soon as possible so I can get appropriate amount of snacks and waters and have shirts to me by September 28....September 29 is Emma's 14th birthday and we will be celebrating....of course you are welcome to decide that morning to join us!

We are also working on a Melting Pot evening again hosted by the best...Dana and John Snyder...unbeleivable friends and owners of the Melting Pot!  stay tuned!
