Let's Walk Off Parkinson's together
My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2007. PD is a progressive neurological disorder that affects gait, limb movement, speech, fine motor skills and cognitive functioning, to name just a few things. Dad doesn't talk about PD that much, but he fights it in his ways, which include doing Walk Off Parkinson's every year to raise funds for the Parkinson's Foundation of the National Capital Area.
PFNCA provides exercise, communication and education programs to those impacted by Parkinson’s in the D.C. metro area. PFNCA enables the boxing sessions Dad goes to with my sister Lynne every week. (Both the exercise and the chance to hit the heck out of something do wonders!) These programs can't cure PD, but they do help reduce and slow its impact, and they improve the quality of life for those with PD, as well as their care partners and families.
We'd love to have you support Team Yank and PFNCA, either by donating, walking with us (it's free, and you get to stroll the warning track at Nats Park!), or cheering us on.
Thanks!
Karen and Team Yank
