Please Help Me Walk Off Parkinson's
As you may know, I serve on the Board of Directors of this wonderful organization and previously served as its Board Chair. We have many exciting and innovative plans in the works and need your help to improve the lives of people like me (and you) who face Parkinson's.
I am again participating in Walk Off Parkinson’s on Sunday September 30, 2018 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. to benefit the Parkinson’s Foundation of the National Capital Area (PFNCA).
That day we will gather with thousands of others impacted by Parkinson’s to show that those facing this disease that they do not do so alone. We will raise funds to support those impacted by Parkinson’s including people diagnosed with the disease, care partners and their family members.
PFNCA is a leading organization providing programs and services directly to those impacted by Parkinson’s. While there is no cure for PD, research tells us that those diagnosed with it can take steps to slow how the disease impacts them. PFNCA provides exercise, communication and education programs in 16 communities in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
PFNCA improves the quality of life of those impacted by Parkinson's disease, their care partners, and families, and fosters a sense of community to ensure that no one battles this disease alone. Simply stated, PFNCA strengthens the physical and emotional health of people impacted by Parkinson’s. “PFNCA helps people take control of their lives.”
Walk Off Parkinson’s is the name of PFNCA’s community fundraising and awareness walk, but it is so much more. It is a rallying cry to focus on how those impacted by Parkinson’s can take steps to slow how PD affects them. Whether it is a practical mindset of regularly exercising or a philosophical one that a person can enjoy life even when faced with challenges, Walk Off Parkinson’s is a way of life.
Your Help Is Needed
We need your help first to show up at the Walk Off to demonstrate the importance of our work and as a statement of the depth of our continued efforts to provide a better quality of life for those with Parkinson's Disease. Funds raised will be used to maintain PFNCA’s current exercise, communication and education programs, and allow PFNCA to serve more people. Second, whether or not you show up at the Walk Off on September 24th, we need your contribution since we rely so heavily on our Walk Off to keep our programs going. Third, if you have someone dear to you who has Parkinson's you may want to start your own team to raise funds. If not, you can just simply donate to my team, The Sumner Support Group.
Please support me in my efforts to help those facing Parkinson’s. Together, we will Walk Off Parkinson’s.
Please make a tax-deductible contribution today. If you would like to make a donation by check (which saves us on credit card fees), please make it payable to PFNCA and mail it to:
